Janie will demonstrate how to layer a very loose wash of color and then transform that loose wash of color into images using negative painting, Using the technique of painting everything that is NOT the object will allow us to begin to 'see' the objects appear on paper. This techniques provides the viewer with various ways to engage themselves into a painting.....
Supplies you’ll need: 1 inch and ˝ inch flat brush, #10 or larger round brush, small rigger or script brush, 140# Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper; either Arches or Fabriano Artistico. I recommend a professional grade of watercolor paint. The Lukas 1862 is a good brand and reasonably priced.....I use an Italian brand, MaimeriBlu. (the underlined colors are specifically a MaimeriBlu name). These colors are suggested! Bring what you have.

Cyan, French Ultramarine Blue *, Permanent Violet Bluish *, Golden lake or raw sienna, Indian Yellow, Lemon Yellow *, Brown Stil de Grain or Burnt Sienna , Primary Red Magenta or Permanent Rose, Permanent red deep *, Sap Green *, Perm. Green, Cupric Green *, Green Blue*
Covered Watercolor Palette, Non absorbent board to paint on. Gatorboard is great!
Various supplies such as water containers, paper towels, hair dryer, sketch book, pencil, stapler, tape, and anything else that you normally use.
Reference photos and or sketches of flowers, landscapes, boats, animals.....etc.!!
